With over 100 years of history behind me, and hopefully many more before, this is our journey on the Green River Drift in 2020.
Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26 - Day Nine and Ten
At this point in our drive to the mountains, we are at the Cora driveway that parallels the highway to Cora and Green River Lakes. This driveway helps us keep the public, the cattle, and us safe since we don't have to worry about using the highway and it gives us the flexibility we need at this point. Some cattle will water and walk on while others like to rest and graze. Because of this, we had an extremely easy day and moved only 11 pairs through the driveway. All but two of us, France and Stub, had the day off since most of the cattle moved on towards Marsh Creek.
My Dad, our friend Curt and I moved the trailers and met them at the Forty Rod road. It was barely 9 am, but they were done. It's amazing what you can get done when you wake up at 4 am.

On Friday, we started at Forty Rod and trailed to the Marsh Creek underpass that is just past the New Fork Lake Road. This is the start of my favorite part of the move north. The mornings are crisp and beautiful with a full view of the Wind Rivers before you. I would be happy to take out a lawn chair, sit down, and drink my morning coffee there, but on horseback is great too.
My husband and I doctored a few calves on horses that are green or new to roping. We were both happy with how they handled it and are hopeful they will continue to improve. The horse France rode is a barrel horse, turned Cheyenne Frontier Days Dandies flag horse, and by all means should not be a ranch horse. It looks like he might have found his new calling which is exciting for us. We roped several calves off of him and he handled it really well. The only problem was that France's cousin, Laine and I had to wrestle (think WWE Smackdown wrestle) the calves to doctor them. I'm sure it was entertaining or painful to watch, but it got done. I did get my rope on a calf and didn't have to wrestle, which gives plenty of incentive to keep improving my skills.
